Fake Republican Lindsey Graham's October 12th tirade against Ron Paul highlighted the fundamental differences between the so-called "Republican Establishment", and the burgeoning grassroots conservative movement centered around the philosophies of small government, sound money, and the Constitution. A quick perusal of Graham's stump speeches on YouTube reveals that one of his major talking points is how he intends to "grow the party". Well Lindsey, how is that coming along? When was the last time over 10,000 people came to hear you speak? When was the last time you were on the NY Times best seller list? Just who are you expecting to look at your record of supporting bailouts, endless war in Iraq, the "Patriot Act", general disdain for the Constitution, blind trust of Ben Bernanke, support for Sonia Sotomayor, and go, "gee, whatever party that guy's in is the party for me."? The reality is that outside of South Carolina, almost nobody knows who Lindsey Graham is. He has no real Internet following, young people don't get excited to hear him speak, and his views on the issues are all over the place. The best thing Lindsey Graham could do for the Republican party is to stop talking, serve out the remainder of his term (or even better, resign early), and then go back to South Carolina and retire from politics.
